The Tur 2 (aurochs) is a new Polish light protected vehicle. It was designed by AMZ-Kutno in 2008 for Polish military units stationed in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Tur 2 is a bigger variant of the previous Tur 1 which received no production orders. However in fact it is a different vehicle. It is based on commercially available Iveco off-road vehicle. It is broadly similar to Iveco LMV.

The Tur 2 is better protected and more modern alternative to the HMMWVs used by the Polish Army. The main role of this lightly armored vehicle is intervention behind enemy lines and patrol tasks. It is well suited for operation in conflict areas.

Various versions of this vehicle are available. Some of them have opened (covered with tarpaulin) or enclosed cargo area at the rear.

Baseline version of this light protected vehicle carries driver and 4 fully-equipped soldiers.

Armor of the Tur 2 withstands 7.62x51 mm armor-piercing rounds and artillery shell splinters. Vehicle was designed to withstand landmine and IED blasts. The baseline model withstands detonations equivalent to 6 kg of TNT. A higher level of protection against 8 kg of TNT is proposed as an option.

There is a roof hatch for observation. A pintle mount for general purpose machine guns can be provided. Also this vehicle can be fitted with remotely controlled weapon station, armed with 12.7-mm machine gun or 40-mm automatic grenade launcher.

Vehicle is powered by Iveco 4.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine, developing 220 hp. Engine is mated to an Allison automatic gearbox. A number of other mechanical parts, as well as transmission and suspension also come from Iveco. A front-mounted self-recovery winch can be fitted.

Tur 2 WIL. This vehicle has a fully-enclosed armored body.

Tur 3 is a smaller light protected vehicle. Despite the same name it seems that the Tur 3 shares little common with the Tur 2. In 2009 two prototypes completed mobility trials in India. The Indian Army is looking to obtain 500 new lightly armored vehicles.
